1984年Katie Melua出生于格鲁吉亚的首都第比利斯。对于第比利斯，我能想起的估计只有茅盾先生的文章第比利斯地下印刷所了。8岁的时候，她随全家人搬到了贝尔法斯特。15岁的时候，她参加了电视台的一个选秀节目，凭一首Mariah Carey的Without You获得了胜利。大学期间，她接触了很多不同曲风的音乐，并被音乐人Mike Batt发掘。

第一次听到她的Nine Million Bicycles就被她清澈的嗓音吸引。这首Piece by Piece就是她专辑的主打曲之一，单曲在2005年10月发布。这是一首与过去告别的歌曲。一点一点，就这样忘记你。

特别喜欢第三段结束后Katie的哼唱，有一种空灵的感觉。我能找到的，只有YouTube上Katie的Acoustic现场演唱的版本。现场唱这段间奏的效果也相当好，可见她唱功了得。

另外，她专辑中还有一首I Cried for You，与这首歌的风格很相似。
